Dear Struggling Coach

February 14, 2024

I see you.

I see those stormy doubts clouding your mind, the weariness in your spirit. You entered this field with a heart full of hope, ready to change lives, including your own. But now, here you are, contemplating a return to the 9-to-5 world, thinking maybe that promise of security isn't so bad after all.

If the big-money dream you might have bought into has somehow turned into a ghostly vapor, you are not alone. Running from that ghost may be very tempting.

But before you make that leap back into the arms of traditional employment, I want you to pause for a moment. Let's talk truth about this elusive 'job security' and why it's not the safety net it's made out to be. The workplace is evolving, and the harsh reality is that the security you're seeking there is more myth than matter.

Revitalize, Don't Retreat.

I understand the path hasn't been easy. Building and sustaining a coaching practice can feel f*cking hard, and the temptation to return to something more predictable can be strong. But, dear beautiful soul, this isn't the time to retreat. It's the time to reinvent, revitalize, and reimagine.

You might need to get out of the coaching peer pressure bubble of nonsense and back to basics in the real world to find your juice again.

The Toxic Echo Chamber

And let's talk about that coaching bubble, the toxic echo chamber where it's all too easy to get trapped. You join these groups, these circles, hoping for growth and connection, but end up just hearing the same old voices, echoing the same old ideas. It's a vortex that sucks in your creativity and spits out uniformity.

This echo chamber isn't just stifling; it's dangerous. It leads to comparison, despair, and a shrinking market of potential clients who aren't caught in the same loop. If you're not careful, your practice can wither away in these bubbles of doom, leaving you wondering where it all went wrong.

Continuous Learning is Your Superpower

Remember why you started. That spark you felt when you first imagined becoming a coach – it's still there. It might be flickering under current challenges, but it's far from extinguished.

Continuous learning and growth are not just nice-to-haves in our field; they are essential. In adjacent professions like therapy, continuing education is legally required.

The landscape of coaching is dynamic, and to thrive, we gotta keep the groove on and be dynamic. The training you got five years ago is probably out of date, so it will feel stale. Stagnant coaching skills are going to have a certain smell. Clients pick up on that - but fixing that sh*t might actually be really fun.

Breaking Free with The Coaching Guild

That's where The Coaching Guild comes in. We're about busting you out of those toxic echo chambers and reigniting that fire within you. We're here to inject new life into your practice, to help you rediscover the joy and the passion that led you into coaching in the first place.
